Justice40 Initiative centers environmental and racial justice for disadvantaged communities of color who bear the brunt of environmental health hazards and are overburdened with poverty, pollution, Under-investment and economic burdens of the energy system and do not have equitable access to decision making.
Created under the Biden-Harris Administration Justice40 establishes the goal that 40% of overall benefits across all federal agencies flow to disadvantaged communities (DAC).This commitment is contained in executive order 14008.
The overarching goal of this community tour will be to: raise awareness of Justice40 investments in the Infrastructure Investments and Jobs Act and Inflation Reduction Act; spotlight community advocacy and environmental justice leadership; and engage with city, county, state and federal officials to ensure IIJA/IRA Justice40 investments reach communities that need them most.
